"I recently posted another oil from this series, King Lear, made when I was Artist-In-Residence at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1999-2000. This is a double portrait of Sir Nigel Hawthorne as Lear and Japanese superstar Hiroyuki Sanada as his Fool, in the Storm scene where Lear rails again the thunder, lightning and rain. I had occasion recently to take this and others from the series out of storage, which it has been in for many years, and to take new photos of them. Some have stood the test of time fairly well…" Binnie, September 23, 2021
