Paul Binnie Cranes

Paul Binnie “Cranes” artwork
Cranes features the machines not the birds, silhouetted in blue-black against a rosy rising sun below pink and purple clouds, with a flash of blue sky above. These are modern hydraulic cranes, used in the construction of tall buildings, as they can be raised up floor by floor as the framework is completed around them; this particular Japanese type is especially popular in Tokyo and other bog cities, with many skyscrapers under construction. I was keen to try something a little less tradtional while staying aesthetically within modern Japan, even though the sunrise sky is very romatic.
