"Way, way back to my Japan days for this one, painted on site in Hokkaido and now in a private collection in Zurich, Switzerland. I wanted to try that challenging format, the large perfect square, to see if an interesting composition would come from it, and a trip to the northernmost large island of Japan gave me this beautiful view."
