I’m pleased to announce that my newest oil painting is complete, and as you’ll see in the second image, it even has a frame already. Many thanks to very handsome Arne who modeled for the original studies back in March, and as I’ve been working on this, many studio visitors have remarked how extremely attractive he is. The hotel room around and behind him is based on reality but is also adapted, as it didn’t have that stylish Art Deco door, though it was a Deco building. When I paint figures in interiors, a large body of work within my larger output, I generally adapt and alter the room they are in to fit my artistic needs. However, I was keen to keep the blue daylight creeping under the blind, which reflects in the dark wood door, that was a key element for this painting. Binnie, December 21, 2024.
